Several members of the Institute for Pressure Injury Prevention’s Advisory Board shared their expertise at the Pressure Ulcer Masterclass in Ghent, Belgium. The Pressure Ulcer Masterclass was held from March 14-16, 2017, and consisted of lectures by renowned international pressure injury experts, workshops, complex case discussions and a tour of the wound care department at Ghent University Hospital.
The program was co-chaired by Prof. Dimitri Beeckman of IPIP’s Advisory Board.
Lectures given by IPIP’s Advisory Board members included:
- Pressure ulcer etiology, including biomechanics, pressure induced deep tissue injury and microclimate (Prof. Amit Gefen)
- Support surfaces for prevention and treatment, including biomechanics and clinical evidence (Prof. Amit Gefen and Prof. Dimitri Beeckman)
- Guideline development, implementation, quality indicators and quality improvement projects (Prof. Lisette Schoonhoven)
